Green Day - Insomniac album cover

Release Year: 1995
Label: Reprise/Warner
Producer: Rob Cavallo, Green Day

In 1995, on the heels of the Dookie explosion, Green Day released their 2nd major label album, Insomniac. This album showcased a distinctly different sound. Despite the clever melodies, this album had a darker all-around feel. The lyrics were more aggressive and the music more in your face than ever before.

While not as commerically successful as Dookie, Insomniac went double platinum within a year of its release. To date, Insomanic is the band’s 3rd best selling album behind Dookie and American Idiot.

Billie Joe recently stated that one of his biggest regrets is not naming the album “Jesus Christ Supermarket.”
